The Innobyte is the only occlusal force meter / gnathodynamometer for sale approved by regulatory bodies for use in a clinical setting that measures bite in absolute force.

How Bite Force Data Can Help Improve
Your Practice Growth

Bite Force Measurements Can Help Increase Dental Case Acceptance

Your patients don't doubt your diagnosis, they just can't feel or see the problem.

  • A patient told they've lost bite strength has no reference point for what that means.

  • Patients with posterior tooth loss may say you can't see it when they smile.

  • Patients with excessive bite don't understand the risks of restoration failure.

When you show a patient their number and where that number falls short of or exceeds a healthy range, they have something concrete to react to.

Instead of describing reduced function in the abstract, Innobyte helps you point to and explain what a patient's function means for chewing, lack of nutritional options, and long-term outcomes.

Seeing a measurably reduced or excessive bite force reframes the issue as functional, not cosmetic.

This distinction can move a hesitant patient toward accepting the proposed plan. One practicing dentist using Innobyte reported a 30% increase in patients converting to implant treatment within a year of adopting the device.

Bite Force measurement chart

Innobyte displays a patient's absolute bite force in newtons within seconds, giving clinicians an objective, visual data point to walk through during the same consultation where treatment is proposed.

Bite force measurements with Innobyte take under 30 seconds and require no software or external setup.

The result is an evidence-based conversation with the patient, backed by data both the clinician and the patient can see and understand together.

Bite Force Measurements Can Help Improve Treatment Planning, Reduce Restoration Failures

and Build Patient Trust

Patients with excessive bite force place far more load on a restoration than a clinician can reliably estimate through subjective exam alone.

The gap between assumed and actual force is where failures often originate.

Measuring bite force in absolute newtons before finalizing a treatment plan gives clinicians a concrete number to design around:

  • Which material can withstand this patient's load?

  • What implant design and loading protocol is needed?

  • Does the patient have excess force asymmetry and bruxism?

  • Is a splint or neuromodulator warranted before restorative work begins?

Don't wait for a restoration to fail. Account for load in your treatment plan, and communicate the risk of failure to the patient before treatment.

Read the Treatment Guidance

“We need to measure these bite forces, before failure happens. And tell the patient before that failure may happen… When we explain something before, it’s called an explanation. If we explain something after it happens, the patient sees it as an excuse.”

Documenting Bite Force Before and After Treatment

Bite force data turns treatment outcomes into evidence, not impressions.

For patients with deficient bite force, show them their bite force before and after implants or implant-supported dentures. [see image at right]

For patients with excessive force, bruxism and clenching, take a reading before treatment and again at 1 week and 3 months after treatment with botulism toxin (BOTOX).

These baseline and post-treatment data points replace a subjective "does this feel better" check-in with a measurable result.

The trust benefit compounds over time

A practice that can show a patient objective data, both at diagnosis and again after treatment, is making a visibly evidence-based case rather than asking the patient to take their doctor's word for it. For patients weighing whether a proposed treatment or its cost is justified, a documented baseline-to-outcome potential comparison can be the difference between skepticism and confidence in the plan.

What is the difference between articulating paper, T-Scan
and Innobyte?

Articulating paper.png

Articulating Paper

Articulating paper only shows where teeth make contact, not with what force.

T-Scan Results.png

T-Scan & OccluSense

T-Scan and OccluSense indicate relative force and timing, not actual occlusal force.

The data from these devices can be combined with Innobyte's bite force data in newtons to provide a complete occlusal dataset.

Innobyte™

Innobyte measures absolute maximum bilateral bite force (mBF) in newtons.

Maximum occlusal force in newtons (N) is a reliable, reproducible data point valuable whenever force is a key consideration in treatment: TMD, Bruxism, Implant Planning & Design, Nightguards, and more.
